Michael Bauer

Michael has more than 30 years of experience assisting plan sponsors with the management of their qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. His vast experience began with servicing and selling retirement plan solutions for some of the industry’s largest vendors before becoming a fiduciary consultant to retirement plans. He specializes in consulting to plan fiduciaries on the process to manage 401(k), risk-managed pension, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.

While the group has worked together for over 15 years, Michael, with his partners formally founded BMR Retirement Group in 2018, joining forces with Concurrent Investment Advisors at that time. As a managing partner, he is responsible for managing the firm while working with institutional clients to build a retirement platform to provide a secure retirement for employees while mitigating their fiduciary and financial risks associated with the management of their retirement plans.

Michael has a bachelor’s degree in Financial Administration and Mathematics from Michigan State University and an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University. He has earned his Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation issued by the National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA), which demonstrates a knowledge, expertise, and commitment to working with retirement plans.

Michael is an avid sports fan who enjoys supporting his local professional teams and especially his alma mater. He hosts epic Spartan Football tailgates in the fall for each home game. He enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife and their five adult children.
